1. Tata Steel swung to profit in fiscal Q2 with a consolidated attributable profit of 8.33 billion Indian rupees in the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 against a net loss of 61.96 billion rupees a year ago.Earnings per share came in at 0.67 rupees compared with a loss per share of 5.07 rupees a year earlier, the steel manufacturer said in a Wednesday filing to the stock exchanges.
2. Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra reported a surprise rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, helped by higher sales of its sport utility vehicles (SUV) and a recovery in tractor demand.The 'Scorpio' SUV maker's standalone profit after tax rose 13.2% to 38.41 billion rupees ($455.4 million). Analysts had estimated profit would dip 1.7% to 33.92 billion rupees, per data compiled by LSEG.Its consolidated profit, which includes its IT, financial services, and holiday businesses, grew 35%.
3. UltraTech Cement Middle East Investments, a UAE-based wholly-owned subsidiary of UltraTech Cement has acquired an additional 11.55% stake in Ras Al Khaimah Co. for White Cement and Construction Materials PSC (RAKWCT) for $22.02 million.
