1. The half-brother of Ratan Tata was appointed on Friday as the head of the powerful and influential philanthropic arm of India's Tata group, giving him indirect control of the $165 billion conglomerate.Tata Trusts said Noel Tata, 67, will be its new chairman after the death this week of Ratan Tata, one of India's best-known corporate titans.

2. India's Tata Consultancy Services' TCS shares slumped as much as 2.7% on Friday after its second-quarter profit missed Street estimates, although rivals advanced on expectations that demand in their key banking segment was recovering.The stock, which was choppy in early trade, was last down 2.4% at 4,125.15 rupees.
